Heartwood is a light to medium brown in colour, with less colour variation than its American cousin. Another difference to American cousin is there is a higher chance for Quarter Sawn boards that exhibit straight grain and medullary rays. As a bonus, it can be used internally or externally, so decking, flooring, door frame, worktops, anything is possible with the specie. Also available in lesser grades than prime, where knots become more frequent.
