Heartwood is a light pinkish brown when freshly worked, darkening to a medium reddish brown with time and exposure to sun light. Like Walnut, the sapwood is a contrasting creamy white and is allowed on one face of the plank which can attribute to a high wastage factor if sap free wood is required. A good all-rounder, stable, machines well and takes screws and glue well.  Used for high end internal joinery and can be used as flooring.
